Title:  Junior Graphic Designer

Immediate Supervisor: Senior Graphic Designer

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

General Summary:  The Junior Graphic Designer position will contribute to the overall effectiveness of the Tavistock Development Company marketing plan and strategy by providing graphic design expertise and controlling traffic intake and flow of projects.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Acting as a traffic manager within the marketing department and for in-house designers
  • Accurately estimate time required to complete projects while simultaneously working to complete tasks with tight time constraints
  • Ability to tackle multiple projects at once and begin new projects quickly and efficiently
  • Assist Senior Graphic Designer in implementing design strategies and campaigns across a wide range of businesses
  • Gather information and materials needed from designated individuals to accomplish tasks
  • Production design on a multitude of project types ranging from presentations, advertisements, print and digital collateral, social media graphics, internal communications, event graphics, etc.
  • Create and update ads and marketing collateral using templates created in Adobe and Microsoft Programs (such as InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, PowerPoint, Word, etc.)
  • Work within templates and design new templates for presentations using both PowerPoint and InDesign
  • Maintain the trafficking and archival of all marketing, sales and corporate collateral materials such as brochures, article reprints, program ads, renderings, photography, folders, etc.
  • Organize, track and maintain inventory of creative materials and images
  • Ability to present work in a clear manner, as well as critique other design work
  • Knowledge of elements and principles of design, as well as successfully incorporating these methods into work
  • Use knowledge of design to problem-solve for marketing and wider company goals
  • Become familiar with brand guidelines, imagery, graphic assets, overall brand identity within Tavistock Development Company and sister brands
  • Adhere closely to brand standards and repetitive design practices
  • Ability to expand brand standards with new, creative and original ideas
  • Research design trends and practices to continue education and proven ability to stay self-taught on new design practices and technologies
  • Adjust and upload photos to websites and convert to email template format
  • Research, submit and maintain collection of design awards
  • All other duties as assigned

Essential Qualifications:

  • 2 years of working experience as a Graphic Designer
  • Graphic design education preferred: Bachelor’s degree with BFA, specializations in Graphic Design, School of Visual Arts, or similar
  • Proficient in Microsoft office (PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Teams) and Adobe Creative suite: Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, Acrobat, Premiere Pro, Lightroom
  • Excellent internal and external communication skills, and ability to navigate projects from briefing to completion
  • Self-starter that is meticulous, highly organized and a master multi-tasker
  • Excellent time-management skills
  • Must have interpersonal skills to balance approachability, customer service and creative problem solving
  • Demonstrated ability to be flexible in managing a workload of varied tasks, some with conflicting deadlines in a detail-oriented, fast-paced environment
  • Manage time to ensure deadlines, expected or unexpected, are met without recreating “the wheel” for every request
  • Contribute to a wide range of projects and be entrusted with a high volume of work that requires versatility, collaboration and creative problem-solving skills
  • Ability to follow creative direction, maintain brand standards and work collaboratively with team
  • Understanding of typography, color theory, visual hierarchy, web design, strong layout and design skills
  • Strong technical knowledge of preparing files for print and various forms of digital output
  • Must be able to communicate in English effectively with other individuals

Essential Physical Requirements:

  • Must be physically able to do assigned work as outlined above
  • Must be physically able to sit and use the computer for hours at a time
  • Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds
